1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using SociBooks (socibooks.com), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the platform. These terms apply to all users including association and community committee members, members, and guests.

2. Description of Service

SociBooks provides a cloud-based accounting and transparency platform for associations, trusts, societies, and community organisations in India. Features include member billing, expense tracking, Statement of Accounts generation, and member self-service portals. Where an association chooses to enable online payments, members can pay their dues through the payment gateway of our payment partner, as described in section 6.

3. Account Registration

Associations register through an authorized committee member. You are responsible for maintaining the accuracy of information entered into the platform. All users authenticate via phone OTP — you are responsible for keeping your phone number secure and up to date.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

Enter false or misleading financial data
Attempt to access data belonging to other associations
Use the platform for any unlawful purpose
Reverse engineer, copy, or redistribute any part of the platform
Overload or interfere with platform infrastructure

5. Payment Terms

The Starter plan is free of charge. Pro plan subscriptions are billed at ₹999/month (annual billing). Subscriptions auto-renew unless cancelled. For full details on refunds and cancellations, see our Refund & Cancellation Policy.

6. Online Payments & Payment Processor

SociBooks is an accounting and transparency platform. SociBooks is not a bank and does not itself process payments. Online payments of association dues are processed by our payment partner, Razorpay (a payment gateway), and are subject to Razorpay's own terms and privacy policy in addition to these terms.

Online payments are optional and are switched on by each association. Where they are on, members can pay by methods the payment partner offers, such as UPI, cards, net banking and wallets. Members can still pay by bank transfer or UPI directly to the association's account; the committee records those payments.
Payment charges apply to online payments. The charges are shown before you pay. Each association decides whether the association or the member bears them, separately for UPI and for other methods. Where applicable, SociBooks issues a tax invoice for the charges.
A member's payment of association dues is a payment to the association, not to SociBooks. The amount, less any charges borne by the association, is paid out to the association's bank account by the payment partner or by SociBooks. Timing depends on the payment partner and the banks involved.
A successful online payment is recorded automatically against the member's account and a receipt is issued. Card, UPI and bank details are entered on the payment partner's secure page and are not collected or stored by SociBooks.
We are not responsible for delays, failures or interruptions caused by the payment partner, banks or networks. If money is debited but the payment is not recorded, contact the committee and support@socibooks.com with the payment reference and we will help trace it with the payment partner.

7. Data Ownership

All financial data entered into SociBooks remains the property of your association. We do not claim ownership of your data. You may export your data at any time. Upon account termination, we will provide a data export upon request.

8. Limitation of Liability

SociBooks is an accounting tool and does not provide financial, legal, or tax advice. We are not liable for financial decisions made based on data in the platform. Our total liability in any matter is limited to the subscription fees paid in the last 3 months.

9. Modifications

We may update these terms from time to time. We will notify registered associations of material changes via email. Continued use after notification constitutes acceptance.

10. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of India. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of courts in Bengaluru, Karnataka.
