Does SociBooks handle actual payment collection (like a payment gateway)?

Accepted Answer

SociBooks is an accounting and transparency platform, not a payment processor. Residents make payments through their existing bank transfers or UPI and then record them in the app (or the committee records it on their behalf).

What happens if a resident is not comfortable using an app?

Accepted Answer

The committee can record payments on behalf of any resident from the committee dashboard. Residents only need the app if they want to check their own SOA or account balance.

Can we migrate our existing Excel/Tally data into SociBooks?

Accepted Answer

Yes. SociBooks supports bulk import of flat and member data via CSV. For existing transaction history, our onboarding team can help you load an opening balance per flat. Contact support@socibooks.com for migration assistance.

Is our financial data secure? Who can see what?

Data is strictly tenant-isolated — residents can only see their own flat's accounts, while committee members have full association-level visibility. All data is encrypted at rest and in transit.

We have both owners and tenants in our building. How does SociBooks handle that?

Accepted Answer

SociBooks supports owner, tenant, and family member roles per flat. You can configure whether maintenance liability lies with the owner or the current occupant.

What if our association has multiple blocks or towers?

Accepted Answer

Flat numbering in SociBooks supports any format — "A-101", "Tower 2 / 305", "B Block 204", etc. The system handles multiple blocks naturally within a single association.

Can we generate reports for our annual general body meeting (AGM)?

Accepted Answer

Absolutely. With a few clicks you can generate income-expense summaries, balance sheets, account-wise breakdowns, and arrears lists — all pre-formatted for AGM presentation.

Accepted Answer

Tally requires an accountant to operate and gives residents no visibility. SociBooks is built specifically for housing societies — every resident can log in and check their own account without any accountant involvement.
